Yes. Naute stores your notes, documents, and attachments as Markdown and regular files on your disk. Point the app at any folder, back it up, version it with whatever tool you like, or open it in another editor any time. Nothing is trapped in a proprietary database.
When you chat with Naute's built-in AI or connect an external agent, it works on top of your real notes, documents, and attachments — not a blank chat box. You see what context it used, every edit is a diff you can accept or reject, and nothing is ever written silently.
No. Your library is never used to train foundation models. When an agent reads your notes through MCP, that happens in your session, on your instruction, with providers you choose.
You still have every note, document, and attachment — they live on your disk as regular files. Sync is additive, not the source of truth. A final offline build will run forever.
